Celta was very threatening and looked well in attack in the first leg, however the team had gaps in the defense and in the end didn’t manage to get completely right result as the Spaniards took the 3:2 lead ahead of the second leg. They didn’t enter the match in a proper way and conceded a goal in tenth, but replied well from that moment on.
Hosts took the charge of the game and scored two goals already in next eight minutes, while Sisto and Aspas brought them into the lead. Guidetti scored once more inside the first halftime making a good result at halftime, however the side conceded once more a bit against the flow of the match. They didn’t have much problems on Sunday evening away to Granada, as the side won 3:0 with a rotated squad and now stands at tenth position being in situation where they can take their matches a bit more relaxed.
Genk will probably be playing in quite offensive 4-2-3-1 formation with Samatta as central striker, but also with Trossard, Pozuelo and Schrijvers as offensive midfielders. Forward Nikolaos Karelis (18/9) remains injured for this one, similar to midfielder Tino Susic (15/0) and goalkeeper Marco Bizot (22/0).
Genk could be satisfied with the result in the first leg, since it was a narrow defeat but with two goals scored, result that gives them more options ahead of the second leg than what they probably have hoped for. The side probably left better impression than what was expected, since they took the led in tenth minute via Boetius.
From that moment on, players of Celta were way more concrete and scored three more before the halftime whistle. It looked like that the visitors could suffer a huge defeat, but managed to reduce the deficit in 67th minute via Buffel taking a decent result. The side also won over Kortrijk 3:0 away from home, with a bit rotated squad in Belgium Jupiler League, being currently at first position for the Europa League exit for the next season too.
Spaniards will be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation, with Guidetti as their top striker and number nine, while Aspas, Wass and Sisto should be their offensive midfielders. Visitors are expected to field their best starting lineup after making changes last weekend. Forward Giuseppe Rossi (18/4) is injured, while doubtful remains goalkeeper Ruben Blanco (11/0).
- Celta Vigo have won their last 4 matches (UEFA Europa League).
- Celta Vigo have scored at least 2 goals in their last 3 matches (UEFA Europa League).
Both teams are aiming progress into the semi-finals of Europa League after the first leg and I believe the game will be open in the same way as in the first match. Genk now needs to attack, but Celta remains a better side in every aspect and it wouldn’t surprise me in case we see again four or five goals scored.
