Rondo and the Pelicans agreed to a one-year contract over the weekend, just a few weeks after Rondo was waived by the Bulls.
The 31-year-old already has a tie to the Pelicans in All-Star DeMarcus Cousins. The pair played together during their time with the Kings and reportedly grew very close.
Even though New Orleans just re-signed point guard Jrue Holiday to a five-year, $126 million guaranteed deal, the Pelicans reportedly want Rondo fill a backup role to give Holiday more rest during the season.
Rondo averaged 7.8 points, 6.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 69 games with the Bulls last season.
