Mile Jedinak has been ruled out of the tournament, which is a blow to manager Ange Postecoglou.
Massimo Luongo could therefore partner up with Aaron Mooy in the middle of the park here.
Mat Ryan should also get the nod between the sticks.
Germany boss Jogi Loew has ample strength in depth in every position ahead of their meeting with Australia.
Timo Werner may have to settle for a place on the bench, with Lars Stindl and Sandro Wagner preferred in attack in recent meetings with Denmark and San Marino.
Loew can be expected to name his strongest side possible here.
Australia have lost only one of their last nine games, though that was their most recent outing in a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Brazil in Melbourne. Having conceded after just 12 seconds in that loss, manager Ange Postecoglou will demand his side keep things tight at the back to frustrate Germany.
Germany come into this in flying form and are unbeaten in 10, winning eight. They have, though, won only two of their last four meetings with Australia, however those two victories were in competitive action.
Either way, Germany should make light work of the Socceroos here.
Prediction: Australia 0-3 Germany
